Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Sulong bin Matjeraie

Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Sulong Bin Matjeraie has more than 40 years of legal and judicial experience.

Tan Sri started his career in the Sarawak Civil Service in 1964, where he held various positions before setting up his own legal firm under the name and style of Messrs Sulong Matjeraie & Co. in Kuching, Sarawak in 1983. In 1998, he was appointed as a Judicial Commissioner of the High Court Johor Bahru until his appointment as High Court Judge of Malaya at Johor Bahru, Johor in June 2000 and at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, in July, 2000. He subsequently served as Court of Appeal Judge and finally as Federal Court Judge Malaysia until his retirement in January 2013.

He is currently the Chairman of Southern Acids Berhad and WTK Holdings Berhad. Tan Sri is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of University of Malaysia, Sarawak (UNIMAS). Additionally, he is a Bencher of the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple London. Prior positions held by Tan Sri are Chairman of Ho Hup Construction Berhad and Petra Energy Berhad.

Tan Sri graduated from the University of Malaya and studied Law at the Inns of Court School of Law, London. He was called to the Bar of England and Wales by the Honourable Society of Inner Temple, London in 1974. Tan Sri holds a Master of Laws in Mercantile Law from the University of Southampton and a Certificate in Advanced Management from the Banff School of Advanced Management, Alberta, Canada.
